Mass Effect 3
Take Earth Back.
Mass Effect 3 plunges you into an all-out galactic war to take Earth back from a nearly unstoppable foe – and how you fight that war is entirely up to you. Groundbreaking interactive storytelling drives the heart-pounding action in which each decision you make could have devastating and deadly consequences. You are Commander Shepard, the only one who can save Earth from annihilation.
But you are not alone. At your side is a team of elite, battle-hardened soldiers ready for your command. Flank enemies with your squad or take them down lone wolf. Use cover or go in guns blazing. Unleash tactical assaults from a distance or go toe-to-toe with enemies using devastating melee assaults and the deadly omniblade.
The Max Payne series has always been known for its smooth gunplay, which is why Max Payne 3 can be incredibly frustrating. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the gunplay, it’s solid. But it’s also painfully difficult, almost to an unfair degree. There’s three aiming modes: free-aim, soft lock, and hard lock. You have to choose up front which one you are going to use and if you change in the middle of the game, you don’t get any achievements. Not that you’re going to anyway, as almost all of them require free-aim to be use and that’s near impossible. This is all on top of the difficulty selection that you also make at the beginning of the game. Max Payne 3 doesn’t follow the same guidelines that most games do when selecting a difficulty. Normal isn’t normal at all, it’s the equivalent of a hardcore mode in any other game.

If there’s one thing that stands out as different from the first two games, it’s Max’s painkiller trips. They’re twitchy, almost like we’re watching him on TV and the cable isn’t plugged in all the way. As his mind rambles, phrases and key words are emphasized on the screen, making sure that you see them. It's an immersive trick; the words aren’t all important, but they made me pay more attention to the random cutscenes that I otherwise would have.
Prototype 2
The player is cast as James Heller, a soldier whose family was killed in the viral mayhem unleashed upon Manhattan by former protagonist Alex Mercer while Heller was serving overseas. He returns to New York 14 months after the original outbreak as part of a clean-up effort, intending to die fighting the viral outbreak and be with his family. Instead, their paths cross and Mercer personally infects Heller with the Blacklight Virus. Thereafter, Heller dedicates himself to hunting and killing Mercer, no matter the cost.
Since the Manhattan outbreak of the Blacklight virus, New York (NY Zero, as it is now referred to) has been split into three different sections based on that area's level of affliction. The corporation responsible for the virus’s creation, Blackwatch, has covered up its malicious acts by placing blame on Mercer. His actions from the first game, typically based on saving the lives of innocents, are twisted to look like sinister acts.
James Heller is a former mildly-decorated soldier from the war in Iraq. Despite issues with post traumatic stress and an insatiable will to kill Alex Mercer (the person he blames for killing his wife and daughter), he is assigned to Blackwatch, a military organization, in the red zone of the infected New York City (now known as New York Zero). Heller and company were attacked by Mercer, and despite frequent attempts to slay the man, Heller fails in his revenge quest and is subsequently infected by the Mercer Virus by Mercer himself.
Heller next finds himself taken back by Blackwatch in order to be experimented upon. However, despite showing fighting skills, the testers are wary of another experiment gone wrong and decide to kill Heller. Heller escapes but is confronted by Mercer, who asserts that he didn't kill James' wife and daughter and that Gentek and Blackwatch are working together to conduct a biological weapon experiment within NYZ.
First, Heller goes to Father Guerra for spiritual guidance, but Guerra explains that no one messes with Blackwatch. Heller himself then goes out to not only decapitate some commanders, but also to stop Blackwatch from using their infected test subjects on the local population, convincing Guerra to work with him. Heller then proceeds to kill and consume the memories of more and more Blackwatch and Gentek personnel to understand and stop the nature of Gentek's plans. He is also trying to kill Colonel Rook, who ordered Heller's execution once infected with the Mercer Virus. Soon, Heller learns that Gentek has finished studying "Phase One."
Overall Ghost Recon Future Soldier is a solid third-person shooter. It has all the necessary core mechanics: shooting, moving, cover, and strategy. It’s not one that has any room for jumping head-first and run and gun tactics. Gamers will be challenged on diligence and precision, as well as speed and patience. Multiplayer will definitely vie for your attention, as well as the 10-hour campaign full of cinematic moments and strategy
development.
Sniper Elite sets you in the midst of the end of World War II. As an OSS-trained sniper you must disguise yourself as a German soldier and stop the Russians from stealing nuclear secrets from Berlin.
Once upon a time, the Diablo series defined the hack-and-slash action role-playing game, setting the standard by which all games in the genre were measured. Now, Diablo III feels more familiar than genre-defining, relying on refining the same hooks that have always made this series so compelling. But what a refinement it is. The controls are responsive and pleasurable; the diversity of character classes and skill customization options is impressive; and the constant stream of gold and treasure you earn is irresistible. Blizzard has the recipe for crafting a habit-forming loot-driven action RPG down to a science, and in Diablo III, the results of that recipe are more exciting and more addictive than they've ever been.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is the next installment of futuristic warfare in the Ghost Recon series. Once again, Ubisoft has gone into the uncharted territory of futuristic warfare with an iteration using combat drones, EMP grenades, and a real-time augmented reality HUD. There were fears that the large gap in time between Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and Future Soldier had taken the strategy out of the series. It was warranted since many shooters are moving towards the high spectacle run and gun action in the dust of Call of Duty, but once you pop in GRFS and begin your first mission you’ll know that strategy still plays an important role in your survival and the completion of objectives.
Another aspect of the game – like many other shooters – is multiplayer. There was a lot of thought that went into the different modes: Conflict, decoy, saboteur, siege, and guerilla. Each one offers new avenues of continuous play and variety. Multiplayer isn’t just tacked-on at the end of development, it was created as a standalone beast for gamers to tackle. There are too many different facets to each mode to cover them all, but each is worth checking out and earning ranks and weapon unlocks.
Providing yet another new direction in the Ghost Recon series of military games, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier promises to go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience. The game features cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes.
